In Las Vegas, UFC 300 promises to be the biggest event in mixed martial arts history

Announced as the most ambitious event in the history of MMA, UFC 300 in Las Vegas should make history by unfolding a card which will give pride of place to spectacular clashes between legends, current champions and great hopes of the first world league of the discipline.

It is the most anticipated event in MMA history. On the night of April 13 to 14, the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas hosts UFC 300, a true historic milestone for the American league since its creation in November 1993. And to mark the occasion, the first world organization of the discipline did not skimp on the means to offer its audience an evening that should be remembered.

After UFC 200 in July 2016 and UFC 100 in July 2009, both already organized in Las Vegas, the American organization is no exception to the rule and returns to “Sin City” for its tricentenary. And if each numbered evening of the UFC is an event in itself – and even more so those, symbolic, with “round” numbers – this number 300 has all the conditions met to explode the counters of a sport which is experiencing a meteoric rise in the in recent years and enjoys growing popularity around the world.

With twelve champions and former champions in total lined up in Las Vegas, this UFC 300 card can boast of being the most competitive in history. And proof of the extraordinary nature of the event, UFC president Dana White announced during the traditional pre-evening press conference that the bonuses awarded to the best fights of the evening will increase to $300,000, compared to 50,000 usually. A way of ensuring a spectacle and motivating the fighters, who already had no shortage of desire to fight as their simple presence on the event card is already a success in itself in their career.

Belts and spectacle in sight

Three championship belts will be at stake during the evening. For the final fight obviously, just to end the evening in style with the first title defense of the Brazilian Alex Pereira, former -84kg champion and current -93kg champion since last November, against the American Jamahal Hill. Just before this clash of the titans, the co-main event will pit Weili Zhang and Xiaonan Yan for the women’s -52kg title. A historic fight since two Chinese fighters have never faced each other in a fight for a belt.

To these two fights for official belts is added the one for the title of “BMF” – Baddest Motherfucker – very popular with fans of the discipline. A symbolic belt created in 2019 to reward spectacular fighters with a warrior spirit in the octagon. It has only known two champions since its creation: Jorge Masvidal in November 2019 and Justin Gaethje in July 2023. The American puts his title on the line against his compatriot Max Holloway, for a clash of pure hitters who could well steal the featured in main event.

In addition to these three flagship fights, the other posters of the evening are not left out with in particular the opposition between the Brazilian Charles Oliveira, former champion of -70kg, facing the Armenian Arman Tsarukyan, one of the great hopes of the the highest category in the UFC. The Czech Jiří Procházka, former -93kg champion, will also face the Austrian Aleksandar Rakić, who is returning from injury after two years of inactivity. Whatever happens, UFC 300 is likely to make a lasting impression and strike a major blow in the history of the discipline.
