Habsburg suffered vertebral fractures in the crash

Ferdinand Habsburg suffered two vertebral fractures in a crash during test drives for his Alpine racing team for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). “My last week was of course very uncomfortable and difficult. But I am very grateful to be able to stand here,” said the 26-year-old on Friday in a video message on Instagram about his accident a few days ago in Aragon, Spain.

Habsburg currently wears a metal support around his upper body. “My recovery is really getting started and my goal is to be back in a racing car as soon as possible,” emphasized the ORF expert.

It is unclear whether Habsburg will be operational again at the second stop of the WEC on April 21st in Imola. At the season opener in Qatar a month ago, he and his two French teammates Charles Milesi and Paul-Loup Chatin finished seventh in the Hypercar class, the highest category.
