German Softball Champions Lead Workshop on Pitching and Catching at TV St. Ingbert Devils Training Course

As part of the TV St. Ingbert Devils’ ongoing multiplier training course “Designing Baseball Projects”, which has been offered since September 2023, participants were recently able to benefit from the expertise of two well-known guests: Robert Kovacevic and Lee Hankhorst from the Bonn Capitals , German Softball Champion 2022, led workshops on pitching and catching.

Lee Lankhorst, pitcher and member of the German women’s national softball team, and her coach Robert Kovacevic, brought their extensive experience in baseball and softball. The workshop focused on the specifics of the game of softball, which differs from baseball in that it has smaller fields and faster gameplay. An important aspect of the training was pitching from below, which makes softball particularly suitable for school projects.

The training aims to enable specialists in schools and other institutions as well as those active in clubs to lead their own projects and workshops. Over 20 participants, including school social workersinside and teachersinside, took the opportunity to discuss both the techniques and their application in educational projects.

Thanks to further training, the TV St. Ingbert Devils have been recognized as a base club for the federal “Integration through Sport” program since 2024 and strive to use baseball and softball to promote integration. The positive effect of this approach is already evident in successful school projects.
