From Volleyball to Judo: The Journey of a Peruvian Judoka

I practiced volleyball but I had to choose and I stayed with judo, he told Prensa Latina after winning the 57 kilogram division.

The judoka was very happy with this result, because she has been working with great interest, with ups and downs but on the right track.

I am the first athlete in the family, they have been the most important pillar to get here, and the decision was thanks to an uncle that I love very much (Yony), he was the one who inclined me towards judo, he explained.

Although she was already backed by the silver medal at the 2022 South American Games in Asunción, the native of the city of Paita, in the department of Piura, believes that she is still starting out in this martial art.

I really think about the next cycle, I know that I have to work hard to cover that path, but we have been working very hard in Peruvian judo in general, it is a teamwork that is giving results, he assured.

Flores will soon be in the Pan American Championship in Brazil and in another Open in Lima, which he already won last year, but his dreams go further.

We have to prepare with long light, the 2027 Pan American Games, for example. It is very strong, there is a lot of competition in my division because everyone works to achieve important results, he warned.

His efforts are no longer pursuing a volleyball, but the goal is still quite high, like that mesh that is so far away.
