Gicquel and Delrue go beyond the limits
The European Badminton Championships take place in Saarbrücken, Germany. Information that is not the kind that usually destabilizes us. Except when the mixed doubles composed of Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue decide to make us miserable. Indeed, in the west of Germany, the two French people landed representing a real threat to our federation. The reason ? But we must admit that their other mania suits us much better; that of losing their finals. This time, the Tricolores are faced with the formidable Danish pair, made up of Christiansen and Boje. The match begins, and very quickly our hope of seeing this series of lost defeats continue takes water in the gas. The French pair won the first set 21-16, then the second 21-15. We then expect the Danes to turn the situation around in the next three sets, but it was too quickly to forget the particularity of the bad; the match is played in two winning sets. Hard blow for the FFL.
A first in the history of French badminton
Not only do Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue become European champions, but the slap doesn’t stop there. Before them, no Frenchman had ever committed such an affront. Thom and Delphine become the first French European badminton champions. We have just witnessed the first title in the history of French badminton, quite simply.
