French Archers Shine in Individual Tournament Before D1 Team Championship Kickoff

Before starting the first round of the French D1 team championship, the best French archers competed yesterday in an individual tournament on the Cerey plain site, in Riom, bathed in a blazing sun.

A sort of rehearsal which prepared for the competition the next day. The morning was devoted to recurve and compound bow qualifications before giving way, from 3 p.m., to the duels which would determine the podiums.

In women’s compound archery, it was Sarcelloise Sophie Dodemont, who finished 6th in qualifying, who beat Lucie Jeannin (Cie d’Arc de Rouvres-en-Multien) 146 to 142 in the final, the podium being completed by Léa Giraud (Compiègne) who got the better of Tiphaine Renaudin. Among the men, Nicolas Girard (Saint-Martin), 5th in the morning, beat Rennais Quentin Baraer 150 to 147, while Antonin Gardeur (La Touvre) took 3rd place by defeating Jean-Philippe Boulch .

In the women’s recurve event, Victoria Sebastian from Nîmes confirmed her first place in qualifying by beating Amélie Cordeau (Annemasse) 6 to 5 in the final, with Louise Botte (La Sentinelle) climbing onto the podium following her victory over Anaël Coupard.

To finish, Clermontois Thomas Chirault, 3rd in qualifying, defeated Rennes Jonathan Vetter, leader of qualifying, with a score of 6 to 5, Florian Bossard completing the trifecta after his victory over Rio’s Romain Fichet.
