Austria’s four boats involved in the World Cup opener in Varese, Italy, will each compete in the intermediate race for a place in the A final on Saturday. In the lightweight (LG) double scull, Louisa Altenhuber/Lara Tiefenthaler came fourth in the preliminary heat on Friday, while in the men’s category, Lukas Reim/Julian Schöberl came fourth and Konrad Hultsch/Paul Ruttmann fifth in this class. The eighth ranked third.
Excitement is guaranteed in the men’s LG double sculls, as it will be decided which of the two boats will represent Austria at the European Olympic quota regatta at the end of April. “Technically, both boats looked good, they started the race bravely with Schöberl/Reim coming out on top. Given the time, reaching the A-final is possible for both,” said ÖRV national coach Robert Sens.
