Trabzonspor reacted harshly to the penalty on platform X (Twitter). It said: “To hell with your justice. Resign.” The account of the Turkish Football Association was linked below. Supporters of the traditional club from Trabzonspor stormed the pitch during a game in mid-March after the 2-3 win against Fenerbahce Istanbul and attacked the opponent’s players and coaches.

Pictures show violent arguments. Fans and players attacked each other with punches and kicks. Fenerbahce players Jayden Oosterwolde and Irfan Can Egribayat were given match suspensions and fines. Trabzonspor co-coach Egemen Korkmaz also has to pay a fine and was banned from access to the players’ locker room and the bench.

Fenerbahce remains in the Turkish league for the time being

The 28-time national champion made a threat after an attack on his players by opposing fans after a league game at Trabzonspor in March. This is off the table for now.

Fenerbahce’s exit from the league is still possible

The Istanbul club Fenerbahce announced on Tuesday that it would continue to consider leaving the league. A decision should be made at a general meeting of the club in three months, said Fenerbahce president Ali Koc, according to Anadolu news agency. The reason was not just the riots at the game in March, but a number of other unfortunate conditions in the league that had been endured for a long time, said Koc.
