Football: players of Congolese origin mobilize for their country

This weekend, they play for Congo. On the occasion of the men’s and women’s championship days in France and abroad, several footballers are mobilizing to raise funds for their country of origin, which will be donated to the JJPC association “I play for Congo”.

Sponsored by Lorient right-back Gédéon Kalulu, the organization wishes to set up concrete and large-scale projects to help a country plunged into instability and a conflict affecting the east of the country. Added to this are serious security problems, population displacements, food problems, infrastructure or poverty.

For the first project, which will take place this weekend, around fifty Congolese players or players of Congolese origin will put 500 euros into a common kitty, intended for associations which act on the ground and help the different populations in Congo. In addition to Gédéon Kalulu, his brothers Pierre, who plays for AC Milan, and Aldo, who plays for Partizan Belgrade, will also participate in this operation.

On the Parisian side, Grace Geyoro, the captain of the PSG women’s team is also involved. Without forgetting, Samuel Moutoussamy (Nantes), Jean Viktor Makengo (Lorient), Christian Mawissa (Toulouse), Marcel Tisserand (Abha Club in Saudi Arabia), Jordan Lotomba (Nice), Arthur Masuaku (Besiktas), Yohane Wissa (Brentford), Cedric Bakambu (Betis Sevilla) and many others.
