Liverpool FC saves a draw at Manchester United in a dramatic game. In the first half, Jürgen Klopp’s team missed chance after chance, but then showed great strength. The Premier League title race could hardly be more dramatic.

Liverpool FC have lost their lead in the Premier League. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s team drew 2-2 (1-0) from Manchester United on Sunday despite being ahead and having a number of chances. As a result of the draw, the Reds moved level with league leaders Arsenal FC on points (71), but Liverpool have a goal record that is nine goals worse.

Arsenal won 3-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. Defending champions Manchester City are in third place in the English football championship with 70 points. The Premier League title race could hardly be more dramatic.

After a slow start, Klopp’s team took control of the game and took the lead through Luis Diaz after an extended corner (23rd minute). Until half-time, the guests missed numerous top-class opportunities against a completely harmless United offensively. After 45 minutes the goal shooting ratio was 15 to 0 for Liverpool. The Reds could easily have gone into the locker room with a three-goal lead.

Fernandes hits from the center circle

The poor exploitation of opportunities took its toll after the restart: first Bruno Fernandes took advantage of a Liverpool passing error to score a dream goal (50th). The Portuguese saw that Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher was far too far in front of his goal. Fernandes shot from the center circle and the ball went over Kelleher into the goal to equalize. Manchester Kobbie Mainoo turned the game around with a shot into the far corner and made it 2-1 for the hosts.

Liverpool showed great morale after conceding two goals and got back into the game. Mohamed Salah equalized the final score after a justified penalty kick by Mohamed Salah (84th). With the last action of the game in stoppage time, Diaz even had victory for Klopp’s team in hand. His shot from five meters went just over the goal.
