Fighting Childhood Cancer with Judo: The 21st Annual Peter Pan Trophy Tournament

Next Sunday, childhood cancer will be fought with Judo: the 21st “Peter Pan Trophy” will be staged. On April 7, the “Tomita Judo School” will welcome around 250 young judokas, ready to challenge each other on the tatami under the solidarity motto “I fight for you who fight”.


The appointment is from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm at the PalaLuiss. Coming from ten judo clubs from all over Italy, the approximately 250 little judokas, between 5 and 11 years old, will participate in what has now become an unmissable meeting of the Capital with solidarity sport, with the patronage of the Lazio Region and the Department of Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of the Municipality of Rome. The LUISS Guido Carli University which has renewed the free concession of its spaces.


Participants will fight to help their friends who experience a moment of fragility in the disease, those children and young people affected by cancer who fight for their lives every day. In particular those who, together with their families, stay in the homes of the Peter Pan odv Association which offers them free hospitality and assistance during their stay in the capital for treatment in Roman hospitals. The contributions made available by the ten participating judo schools will be donated to the Peter Pan Odv association.


“The event has the specific aim of promoting and spreading the culture of solidarity through sport as a channel for conveying healthy principles to be taught to children and as all sports should do, but which often, today, give way to exasperated competitiveism Friendship and esteem, passion and commitment, loyalty and respect for others: this is the path to follow which must necessarily pass through good example”. This is the idea of ​​sport, the very essence of the judoka discipline, according to Fabio La Malfa and Alessandro Possagno, tireless organizers of the Peter Pan Trophy.


“Solidarity, like sport, is learned from childhood and this Tomita School Trophy, which not only trains the body, but also the spirit, is the tangible demonstration of this”, declares convinced Maria Teresa Barracano Fasanelli, founder and Honorary President of the Peter Pan Odv Association, which like every year will start the solidarity competition.
