The most important games of the season are coming up for FC Bayern. The semi-final first leg of the Champions League against Real Madrid is on Tuesday, followed by the second leg in Madrid a week later. For the Munich team, the premier class is the only way to end the season with a title.

Bayer Leverkusen has already been crowned champions in the Bundesliga and is even heading towards a season without defeats. Bayern were eliminated from the cup in November against third division team Saarbrücken (1:2).

FC Bayern: Leon Goretzka warns about CL duel with Real Madrid

Before the duel with Real Madrid, Leon Goretzka warned in an interview with Kicker: “On the little things. I think, just like against Arsenal, we will have phases that we have to endure; where we must be prepared to suffer; where we have to be ready to work.”

Goretzka described the great danger in the Spanish style of play as follows: “They are able to score two goals without a real chance to score, they have great individual quality and an incredible mentality.” Finally, when analyzing the opponents, the German international said that the two games would be “a huge chunk”.

In the same interview, Goretzka was also asked about his situation last summer. At the time there were rumors that the midfielder would leave the club and that Thomas Tuchel would no longer rely on the 29-year-old. As Goretzka now makes clear, this situation was not easy: “The summer was tough for me,” he said, summing up the situation at the time.

He then added: “It took me a while to find a way to deal with it. I think I managed that quite well.” In fact, despite the rumors of departure, Goretzka only missed four league games this season, all due to injuries or illnesses. He plays 80 percent of the possible minutes: “Now the last thing I read is that Goretzka got his regular place back.”

When asked by “Kicker” whether Goretzka had even lost it, the midfielder criticized the opinion of the general public: “Unfortunately, you don’t always deal with tactics in depth and you tend to evaluate players based on scoring chances and goals and not always based on their performance over the full 90 minutes.”

In fact, he gave fewer goals and assists, but that was also due to a new role within the team. In fact, he played a little more defensively with less desire to go on the offensive, which makes it relatively easy to explain why he was no longer as dangerous to score.

In addition to the difficult phase in the summer, Goretzka’s future is also discussed. The right-footed player still has a contract until 2026. But there have already been initial discussions with Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl. “But the conversations weren’t primarily about my future, but rather about him getting informed and asking how I view certain topics.”

He then concluded that he “basically feels very comfortable at FC Bayern.” He is also very interested in getting FC Bayern “back on track in the national competitions”. It all sounds as if Goretzka could imagine an extension in Munich.

Mick Schumacher actually wants to get back into Formula 1 as quickly as possible. He drove for the Haas team in 2021 and 2022, but did not get a new contract due to the lack of good results in the long term. Other teams didn’t want to give him a chance either.
