FC Bayern’s Kingsley Coman facing another long injury layoff

How bitter!

FC Bayern will probably have to do without Kingsley Coman (27) for a long time again. The unlucky man was injured during Bayern’s win against Cologne (2-0) and had to leave the pitch in severe pain.

Coman was taken to hospital before the final whistle. The suspicion: a serious muscle injury. How long he will be out is still unclear.

Sports director Christoph Freund (46) about Coman: “He is now being checked in the hospital. Unfortunately, things don’t look so good, he got a bite straight away. I hope it’s not a matter of months, but he’ll definitely be out for a few weeks.”

Joshua Kimmich (29) also feels for his Bayern colleague. Kimmich after the game: “That didn’t look good. You don’t just have the game on Wednesday in the back of your mind, but also the Euros that are coming up now…”

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel was also hit hard by Coman’s injury. Tuchel on the Sky microphone: “Kingsley’s injury is the big downer. You could see it right on his face. It makes me very sad. I know how hard he worked. It will overshadow a lot of the game. First Serge Gnabry is out, then he and Leroy Sane are out [mit Blick auf das Arsenal Spiel, Anm. d. Red.] in the stars. That is bitter.”

Review: Coman wanted to reach the ball in the 47th minute after a punch from Cologne goalkeeper Marvin Schwäbe. The French winger unfortunately twists his right leg without any direct influence from the opponent. He immediately grabbed his inner thigh – you could tell straight away that this was something more serious!

Coman then had to be treated, but he couldn’t continue. He was led off the pitch with support and was unable to step with his right leg. You could literally see the pain on his face.

This could mean the next injury setback for the Bayern star. He was out for a long time this season due to a torn muscle fiber and a torn medial ligament in his knee. The attacker only returned at the end of March and has since made brief appearances against Dortmund and Arsenal.

Against Cologne, Coman was back in the starting line-up for the first time – and had to go down early. It couldn’t be more bitter.
