Fabio Quartararo extends with Yamaha until 2026 in MotoGP

Fabio Quartararo, 2021 MotoGP world champion, has extended his contract with the official Yamaha team (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) by two seasons, until the end of 2026, the Japanese manufacturer announced on Friday. The Frenchman has driven for the tuning fork brand since his arrival in MotoGP in 2019, spending two seasons in a satellite team (3 victories in 2019-2020) before joining the official one in 2021 (8 victories since).

“I am very happy to announce that I will continue the adventure in blue. This winter, Yamaha showed me that the team had a new approach and a new, much more aggressive mindset. I am very confident: we will return to the summits together,” said the 24-year-old pilot in a press release. The team boss, Lin Jarvis, stressed: “Keeping Fabio was essential to Yamaha’s MotoGP project. He is an exceptional talent and a hard worker with a sense of teamwork. We have already made significant changes to our organization, increased our development budget and intensified our testing program. All this to speed up the process which should allow us to regain victory. » Yamaha has not won in MotoGP since Quartararo’s success in Germany during the 2022 season.

Currently 11th in the MotoGP standings after two events, Fabio Quartararo is currently recovering from a calf injury ahead of the next Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin (Texas) on April 14.
