Roma coach Daniele De Rossi followed Ndicka into the catacombs, but returned a few minutes later to discuss how to proceed with the referee. After a break of around ten minutes, referee Luca Pairetto finally decided to stop the game. According to media reports, the team from the Italian capital club did not want to continue playing.

Rumors of a heart attack initially circulated in the Italian media, but Roma gave the all-clear late on Sunday evening. The club released a photo of Ndicka showing off his strained right bicep in a hospital bed. “The team visited Ndicka in the hospital. Evan is feeling better and in good spirits. He will remain in hospital for further observation. Forza Evan,” the club wrote.
