Emotional Rollercoaster: Carlos Alcaraz Reflects on His Thrilling Victory After Long Break from Competition

It has been, for me, incredible to be able to play this level for three hours after a month without competition. Difficult to manage emotions in the game, the tension until the last point has not gone away. That has caused the ups and downs that I have had, but this is tennis and you have to deal with these things. It seemed that physically at the end I was a little low, but I was super happy to have managed my emotions well at the end of the match and to have another chance in the next round.

There are moments when you press the forehand, when you may have a little doubt. But overall it’s fine, I try not to think about it. There has been a panic attack in my team because of some stretching I have done, but the truth is that it is very good, holding out for three hours like this is super positive.

I’m playing at home, in front of my people, the love I receive here is out of the ordinary. When the tournament ends, I wait all year to play here. It is one of the few tournaments where part of my family and friends can come, receiving that love is special. This track suits me wonderfully, and even more so with the public’s affection.

I think that Real Madrid is going to win today, 1-2.
