Elena Rybakina Dominates in Stuttgart, Primed for Mutua Madrid Open

Elena left the house Rybakinachampion of Wimbledon in 2022 and one of the most solid players in the WTA ‘top 10’, has shown in the final of the Open Stuttgart that will come in great form to the Mutua Madrid Openbecause she beat the Ukrainian Marta in the final Kostyuk for a double 6-2 6-2. Before, in the semifinals, she defeated the world number 1, Iga Swiatek, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. In the same round Kostyuk, 21, had precisely defeated Rybakina’s successor at Wimbledon, Marketa Vondrousova, 7-6, 6-2. And before she had surpassed two fashionable players: Qinwen Zheng and Coco Gauff.

Rybakina, who is currently ranked fourth, is the player with most victories achieved this year (26) also having won before in Stuttgart (a WTA 500) in Adelaide y Abu Dhabi. In Madrid it will be quarter seeded in the Mutua Madrid Open. Until now he has not achieved relevant results in the Caja Mágica: second round in 2021 and 23rd and third in 2022.

24 years old, born in Moscow but competitor for Kazakhstan since 2018, his victory at Wimbledon, already after the world sports boycott of Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, was then hailed by the Russian press as a triumph of a ‘own product’ although, as we see, Rybakina and other Russian tennis players changed their nationality long before the aggression against Ukraine.

Her triumph in Stuttgart has not, however, been ‘complete’: As champion of this classic event, sponsored by the automobile manufacturer Porsche, received one of his models as a gift from him. However, she declared that at the moment she could only board as a passenger, since she does not yet have driving canet. For the moment you will only be able to get into the vehicle, therefore, as a companion.
