Dreams Crushed: Bischofswerdaer FV Falls to Erzgebirge Aue in Saxony Cup Semi-Final

The dream of the DFB Cup is over for fifth division team Bischofswerdaer FV. In the Saxony Cup semi-final there was a 0-4 defeat against third division team Erzgebirge Aue.

“We have to play bravely forward ourselves and not hope that Aue will shoot against our crossbar ten times,” Schiebock coach Frank Rietschel, who once played in Aue, told his boys.

Did not work! In front of 3,000 spectators in the sold-out Volksbank Sportpark, the favorite from the Erzgebirge left nothing to be desired and the brave after-work kickers from BFV had no chance.

Already in the first half, the Auer, who had the best line-up apart from keeper Martin Männel (Tim Kips took his place), made everything clear.

Marco Schicora (16th) and Marcel Bär (29th) ensured clear fronts. Both times, former dynamo Marvin Stefaniak prepared the goals with a corner or through ball.

After the break, striker Bär put the lid on it again, and Stefaniak was once again the provider with a shot that was initially saved by BFV keeper Kiefer (56th). Steffen Meuer made the final score (76th).

Second semi-final next week

Previously, both teams had to take a forced break of several minutes because FCE fans had fogged up the pitch with fireworks. But that didn’t stop the violets from keeping their perspective.

It is possible that the Auer around coach Pavel Dotchev have already come a big step closer to the DFB Cup, which is particularly financially lucrative.

Reason: In the second Saxony Cup semi-final next Wednesday (April 24th, 8:20 p.m.) Dynamo Dresden has to play against regional league team Zwickau.

Should Dresden win and make it into the top four in the 3rd league – they are currently third – the loser of the Saxon Cup final would also slip into the first round of the DFB Cup.

Probably the first time that Aue is now rooting for Dynamo…
