Dominic Thiem Faces Brazilian Challenger in Madrid Qualifying Match

Dominic Thiem will be in action in Madrid on Monday (4th game after p.m. in the LIVE ticker >>>).

The 30-year-old from Lower Austria has to qualify for the ATP 1000 tournament. The Brazilian Felipe Meligeni Alves is waiting there in the first round.

The 26-year-old is currently number 131 in the world. This puts him 26 places behind Thiem, who is currently ranked 105th in the ATP rankings.

Thiem won the only duel between the two in three sets in 2020 on the clay court in Rio de Janeiro.

Should Thiem clear the Meligeni Alves hurdle, Thanasi Kokkinakis or Gregoire Barrere would be waiting in the second qualifying round.
