First participation and first title for Diego Jégou. On the weekend of March 6 and 7, in Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne), the resident of the Pontivy Judo club won the French Para Judo Championship in the under 73 kg category.
To do this, he won two fights by ippon. “It’s a source of pride for me, and so many emotions for my parents as well,” confides the champion.

He started at 6 years old in Yvelines

A black belt for around five years, he has been practicing judo since the age of 6. It was a lady who recommended this sport to him, in the Paris region. “She suggested that I take up a martial art in order to channel my energy,” says the man who trained in Vernouillet in Yvelines.

Applauded by his training comrades at the Kerantré dojo, this worker is regularly present on Tuesdays and Saturdays. “When I can,” he says. Because Diego juggles between his job in green spaces, judo, and football at the Sporting Club Sournais.

The fact remains that he will already want to put his title back on the line in 2025, in Nogent-sur-Oise.

Next dates for the Pontivy Judo club: regional competition in Kerantré, in Pontivy, on May 25, 2024, then end-of-year gala on June 23 in this same room.
