Dick Schreuder will not be the new trainer of Ajax, reports Maarten Wijffels. The current trainer of CD Castellón previously impressed in the Netherlands with his attacking playing style at PEC Zwolle.

A month ago, Kenneth Perez indicated to ESPN that he saw an interesting and special trainer in Schreuder. “A kind of second Arne Slot,” Perez began at the time in the Voetbalpraat program: “I think there is one: Dick Schreuder. At PEC Zwolle he changed a lot and made players significantly better. Then my thoughts immediately go back to Co Adriaanse. He has also made us individually better as a selection and provided us with great trainers,” the ESPN analyst explains.

Schreuder, the brother of Alfred Schreuder who did not make it at Ajax, will not come to Amsterdam, according to Wijffels. At least, not at the moment. The sports journalist writes on social media that the former coach of PEC Zwolle and Katwijk is currently not an option for Ajax: “For your information: Not in the picture,” the reporter makes clear.

On Monday, Sky Sports reported that Graham Potter had turned down Ajax’s offer to become head coach. He was reportedly the favorite to become head coach in Amsterdam. According to Valentijn Driessen, Erik ten Hag is and remains the main candidate to work at Ajax. “The first choice is of course Ten Hag,” reveals the Sports Chief of De Telegraaf. “You have to have the courage to wait for his dismissal. Ten Hag is now shouting everywhere that he is the big man of next season.” Verweij: “I think Ten Hag is still Ajax’s dream candidate. Regardless of what will happen to Alex Kroes.”
