Deshaun Watson Reveals He’s ‘Pitching Full Speed’; It remains to be seen exactly what this means regarding his return.

BEREA, Ohio — Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson said he is “throwing at full speed” again as he continues to recover from the right shoulder injury that ended last season.

Watson underwent surgery in November to repair a displaced fracture in the glenoid of his throwing shoulder.

“Everything is in full motion,” Watson said Tuesday after reporting for Cleveland’s offseason program. “Everything is fluid and the movement is really good. The speed and strength are really good.”

Watson said he didn’t know when he would feel 100% again or when he would be cleared to practice without restrictions. He said he hopes to participate in organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp practices, but noted that will depend on how his shoulder reacts in the coming days.

“It may be sooner rather than later, it may be later than sooner,” Watson said. “This is an injury where, for the spring, you have to be a little more conservative. This summer you prepare for training camp. That will be the time when we can get back to that.”

Watson has three seasons remaining on the fully guaranteed $230 million contract he signed with the Browns in March 2022.
