Denver Broncos Trade for Former Second Overall Pick Zach Wilson from Jets

The Denver Broncos acquired former second overall pick Zach Wilson from the New York Jets on Monday.

NFL Network reports that the Broncos are giving up sixth and seventh round picks in the 2024 draft.

Wilson was drafted second overall in the 2021 draft, but found himself in the reserve role last spring when the Jets acquired Aaron Rodgers. He then replaced Rodgers when he was injured in Week 1, before being left on the bench as the offense foundered.

In three seasons, Wilson posted a 12-21 record as a starter, with 23 touchdowns against 25 interceptions.

The Broncos have been without a permanent starter at quarterback since releasing veteran Russell Wilson earlier this year. Jarrett Stidham and Ben Dinucci are the others who are on the roster.
