CUS Siena Athletes Shine at Italian B Rookies Trophy 2024

Saturday 13 April took place in Ponzano Veneto Italian B rookies trophy 2024a competition valid for the national ranking which saw the participation of almost 500 athletes from all over Italy.
Seven athletes from CUS Siena were present to represent the Sienese colours.

Daniele Gabbriellini he won the silver medal in his first experience in the category -60kgdemonstrating great tenacity and technical qualities that allowed him to win 4 matches for Ippon (technical knockout), stopped in his quest for gold only by Carabotto from Turin, the reigning Italian A1 champion.
With this prestigious placing he secured the pass to the Italian championship.
Leonardo Benza he placed third in the category -55kg playing 6 fights and demonstrating great confidence and concentration for the entire duration of the match, he too managed to make the most of his knowledge to close the fights in the shortest time possible, adding points to the ranking and confirming the pass for the Italian A1 championship.
Virginia Vallone she ranked seventh in the category -44kg his first experience of national competitions. Even though she fought with girls older than her, she was able to manage all the matches, winning two for Ippon with her characteristic determination that distinguishes her. She also gained precious points for participation in the next Italian championships.
Excellent performance from the two cushions Daniel Khanbekyan e Alvise Gallo both ranked eleventh in the categories respectively -46kg e -60kg. Daniel Khanbekyan he easily won the first two matches only to be stopped due to a referee’s decision after 6 minutes of fighting, while Alvise Galloafter passing the first round, won the second match for Ippon.
Good performance too Adelaide Sassetti e Elia Domenichinirespectively in the categories -52kg e -55kgwho had the misfortune of having a very difficult draw which did not allow them to best express the technical qualities they have and which they demonstrate every day in the gym. Adelaide Sassetti after winning the first match she too had to stop due to a referee’s decision, while Elia Domenichini after passing the first round he found an excellent athlete who caught an error from Siena to win.

Thanks to the results and commitment of all 7 athletes, CUS Siena ranked 5th among the competing clubsa great result given the small number of Sienese athletes involved in this competition, this is certainly a symptom of the excellent preparation of these boys who in the coming weeks will have other important competitions ahead of them, for some the qualifications for the Italian championship, while for those already qualified will take part in the Italian championships.
