Cuban Prospect Andy Pages Makes MLB Debut with Los Angeles Dodgers in Loss Against Nationals

Andy Pages made his Major League Baseball debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night in a 2-0 loss against the Washington Nationals at Chavez Ravine. The Cuban prospect was lined up as the seventh batter and played center field in his first appearance with the Los Angeles team.

The 23-year-old player did not have the night he would have wanted since in three at-bats he was unable to get hits or drive in runs in a zero night for the Dodgers’ offense. At the end of the meeting, Andy Pages commented how he found out that he was going to play in the Major Leagues and who was the first person he called to tell him the good news.

The peculiar story of Andy Pages

“I don’t really know what time they called me, but when I finally answered the phone it was midnight,” Pages said. “I think they started calling me around nine at night. When I received the news I called my mother in Cuba immediately and she started yelling at the entire neighborhood and obviously she started crying,” added the Cuban prospect.

“But I told him to calm down because he was finally going to play in the Major Leagues and that was what he had always wanted,” he concluded. The 23-year-old player is coming back from shoulder surgery and had good appearances in the Cactus League, something that did not go unnoticed by manager Dave Roberts.
