The celebration of the Northern Sector phase of the Spanish Roller Hockey Championships at the “Jesús Suárez Valgrande” Municipal Sports Center in La Pola, on April 26, 27 and 28 and May 3, 4 and 5 will leave no court for training and the dispute of official matches for all the teams of the “Basket Lena” Club in the decisive section of the regional basketball league, which has provoked the reaction of the board of directors of the sports entity. The board chaired by Julio Vázquez Iglesias has issued a statement in which it criticizes the decision of the Sports Area of the Lena City Council to authorize this tournament, without assessing the damage it causes to other competitions.
In the letter they express “their deepest concern and discontent” regarding a measure that, they regret, “will have a negative impact on the activity of our teams (ten) and players (140 chips).” In fact, in three league games they will have to go to the fields of other terms when it was their turn to play at home. Furthermore, they point out that no Lenense team is participating in this Northern Sector phase this year.
“Unfortunately, sports facilities are scarce and we should not have to emigrate to other councils due to unilateral decisions that only lead to seriously harming our daily sporting activity,” they conclude.
