Colombian Squash Team Dominates at Sucre2024 Bolivarian Youth Games, Clinching Championship Title

This Sunday the Bolivarian Youth Games, held in Sucre (Bolivia), end. Colombia has been the main protagonist of the competition and, barring any debacle, will become champion of the competition.

On Saturday, after several days leading the medal table, but fighting head to head against Venezuela, the national delegation managed to move away from the top of the medal table.

“On a day in which sports such as boxing, judo, cycling and squash were defined, the national delegation added 13 gold medals to maintain first position and reach 166 metals in total, 68 of them gold, 48 silver and 50 bronze,” explained the Ministry of Sports.

On the boxing side, the champions were: Yerlin Quiñones, in the 50 kg.; Yohana Benítez, in the 54 kg, and Claudia Montoya, in the 57 kg.

In addition to boxing, Colombia also added more metals in other contact sports. For example, in judo he won gold in the 100 kg, with Jaider Mora; in the 63 kg., with Daniela Chocó, and in the 78 kg., with Heidy Santillana. In the fight another gold was added with Valentina Carmona, in the 73 kg freestyle.

“Andrés Ardila and María José Quintero added the only gold medal in archery, in a mixed team, compound modality. While athletics, which will be one of the sports that will award medals this Sunday on the last day, Laura Camargo, in the 3000 m hurdles, and Juan David Montaño, in the discus throw, won the gold medal,” explained the Ministry of Sports.

In cycling, a medal came thanks to Néstor Gómez in cross country, while squash closed a golden participation, with five golds, one silver and four bronzes.

In this way, with 68 golds, Colombia was left alone at the top of the medal table in the Bolivarian Youth Games held in Sucre (Bolivia).

Venezuela, second, has 56 gold metals and Chile, which closes the top-3, is further behind with 26 titles.
