New quota for Colombia in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This Tuesday, April 9, archer Santiago Arcila qualified in the men’s recurve bow modality, after his presentation in the Pan American Archery Qualifier, which is held in Medellín from April 7 to 14.
Arcila, 24 years old, defeated Salvadoran Oscar Ticas in the grand final by a score of 6-2, thereby winning the gold medal and ultimately confirming his presence in the tournaments to be held in French territory. In addition to the Colombian and Ticas, the third place went to the Virgin Islands with Nicholas D’Amour, after beating the Argentine Mario Jajarabilla.
“The place for the Olympic Games was obtained. We have to continue proving this year that we are of a very good level and I can continue to be the best goalkeeper in the country. This fills me with gratitude, with motivation to continue working for everything there is this year,” stated the Antioquia athlete.
This is the 46th place for the country for the Olympics and he is the second goalkeeper to qualify. Ana María Rendón had achieved it before. On Wednesday, April 10, the Colombian quota could increase, when the team classification is played. There will be six places in dispute and the country has both male and female representation.
