Celtics, Jrue Holiday signs extension: I want to stay here and win several rings

The Boston Celtics have made official the contract extension signed by Jrue Holiday (here are the details of the agreement that will take the point guard up to the age of 38).

The UCLA alum spoke to the media immediately after the announcement.

“Once I knew I was coming here, I quickly realized the Celtics were exactly what I was hoping for…Being part of a great organization, being here for a long period of time and being able to play alongside guys like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown . and try to win more NBA titles.”
In his first season with the ‘greens’ Holiday put together averages of 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, shooting 48% from the field and an excellent 43% from three points.

Fewer points and fewer assists than his time with the Bucks, but rebounds and 3-point percentage are both career-highs.

The five-time All-Defense player has always been one of the most versatile point guards in the league, and despite his 33 years of age, he remains among the most feared perimeter defenders.

“Here I can really be myself,” explains Holiday. “I do everything the team needs. There will be days in which I will score a lot, others in which I will have to defend and steal a lot of balls, or others in which I will only have to think about shooting threes. I feel like I’m ready to do whatever the team needs. I want to stay here and win several rings.”
