If there is a sports club that is doing well it is (1), the Judo-Club Ginestet/La Force. And it’s already an old story since the club is approaching its 40th anniversary; it was founded in 1985 by Prigontin judoka Jean-Louis Lecomte.

Originally, the association brought together Prigonrieux, La Force and Ginestet. Very quickly, the numbers increased, the Ginestet room offering 140 m² of surface area and that of the La Force gymnasium with its 120 m², were preferred to that of Prigonrieux, which was cramped.

In 2010, William Despujols, a teacher in Pays de La Force, replaced Jean-Louis Lecomte as president. In 2018, Denis Frêcheville took over as head of the association. The latter has made herself known to schools in the area and intervenes in classes.

Today, the club welcomes 140 members and three teachers are on the tatamis: Grégory Coupau, 3rd Dan black belt, Christophe Datichy and Alain Muller, both 2nd Dan black belt.

On June 8, at the Prigonrieux sports plain, the judo club will be present, among other invited sports associations, as part of Village Terre de Jeux 2024. Another important date to remember, that of Saturday June 22, day of the general assembly with the awarding of diplomas and other belts.

And the president recalled that this year the board of directors will be renewed: “We are elected for an Olympiad, i.e. four years. » He adds that the club is mainly looking for practitioners licensed at the club, even if it remains open to external applications and praises Nathalie Datichy, treasurer, saluting her exceptional commitment. Sébastien Bernard acts as secretary of the association. “Learn to fall well to get up better”: a healthy judoka motto for great longevity.

(1) In February 2024, Nathalie Datichy obtained her 2nd Dan, Gabrielle Gazzini her 1st Dan black belt, while Maël Gaignard became Dordogne cadet champion and qualified for the regions. Erwan Foglia and Valentin Monard qualified for the regional events.
