The ten groups of the Piacenza section of the Lions Club, and the Leo Club of Rivalta and Piacenza, also participated in the international celebrations of Lions Day 2024: last Sunday in Piazza Cavalli, members of the local clubs were present with information stands and free activities open to the public.
THE THEMES OF THE 2024 EDITION OF LIONS DAY
There are two main themes of this year’s edition: health and prevention, and sport and inclusion.
FREE SCREENINGS
During the event, there were various free screenings that the Piacenza club offered to citizens: from those to check blood sugar, blood pressure and blood saturation, in collaboration with the Italian Red Cross of Piacenza, to spirometric and audiometric tests carried out together with ophthalmological screening for vision. There was also a cardiorespiratory first aid station which demonstrated the use of a defibrillator.
Sports activities
Meanwhile, the center of the square hosted the initiatives of the various sports organizations in the area coordinated by the Piacenza section of the Italian Paralympic Committee, as part of the Sport Hability project. Children and teenagers were able to participate in demonstrations of judo, hand biking, table tennis, baskin, historical fencing and fencing for the visually impaired, as well as five-a-side football sessions.
Under the porticoes of Palazzo Gotico, a small exhibition illustrated the events and main services offered by the Piacenza clubs over the years.
