Celebrating 60 Years of the Luisantais Judo Club: A Legacy of Timeless Values

Created in 1964, the Luisantais Judo club is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. An “emblematic figure of judo in Eure-et-Loir, where many judokas have flourished”, recalls Sébastien Journet, president of the club, who sees a nice nod in the calendar: in 1964, the Olympic Games of summer took place in Tokyo, Japan, and in 2024, it will be Paris’ turn. “What a beautiful tradition! From Japan, the country that created this beautiful sport, to France, the land of known and recognized champions. »

Today, the association invites its “glorious alumni” who have marked the history of the club, but also all of its members, “a guarantee of continuity and current and future quality”. First, everyone will meet, from 6:30 p.m., at the Henri-Courtine dojo, then at the Marcel-Pagnol room to share this festive moment.

“The JCL has stood the test of time,” continues the president, “but 2024 is only a stage, certainly an important one, where the past has its place.” He recalls that 2024 is also marked by “the evolution that the JCL has been able to give to judo, and its opening towards new disciplines”, such as taiso, a training method based on traditional exercises.

One thing is certain: the Luisantais Judo club “is and will remain the guarantor of timeless values”: modesty, politeness, sincerity, friendship, self-control, courage, respect and honor.
