Casper Ruud reaches quarter-finals of Barcelona tournament

Casper Ruud defeated Jordan Thompson this Thursday in the round of 16 of the Barcelona tournament (6-1, 6-4). The world number 6 was dominant on his serve to defeat the Australian and take his revenge after his defeat against this same opponent in the final of the ATP 250 in Los Cabos (Mexico), last February. He continues his good start to the season on clay after his final lost against Stefanos Tsitsipas last week in Monte-Carlo (6-1, 6-4).

Finalist of the last two editions at Roland-Garros, Ruud stopped in the round of 16 last season in Catalonia. In the quarters he will face the Italian Matteo Arnaldi, 40th in the world and an easy winner this Thursday over the Argentine qualifier Marco Trungelliti (6-3, 6-0).
