Campobasso-United Riccione: between cheering and solidarity

There are many topical ideas for this match between Campobasso and United Riccione, which on paper didn’t offer much else beyond the mere (and vital) issues of the pitch. Going in order, for the World Autism Awareness Day of last April 2nd, the organized groups of Curva Nord Michele Scorrano they supported the initiative of the various associations, contributing to the sale of the totally self-produced blue ribbons at the entrances of the same popular sector. In addition to the funds raised in this way, the fans also wanted to raise awareness on the issue by displaying a banner in the first half, a laudable initiative of the organized groups of the North in response to the idea started by Rosario Sabelli, a true Campobassano and representative of the Autism Rehabilitation Center “Michael’s House”.

To remain in solidarity themes, the home club has in turn promoted the “Plastic Free” day: the sale of food and drinks in plastic glasses, containers and crockery is prohibited, as well as the launch of balloons at the entrance of the Campobasso footballers and United Riccione on the pitch who, during the match, will drink from water bottles plastic free. In all this, the Curva Nord also plays its part: various containers are positioned by the Campobassani ultras in the various corners of the sector, to ensure that at the end of the ninety minutes there is no waste scattered everywhere, indeed, at the final whistle, several boys they activate to clean up the rest, filling numerous bags of garbage.

There is also news for the naming of the Contrada Selva Piana plant: through an online referendum held ten days ago, the resident population of Campobasso had to express its opinion on four naming possibilities: almost unanimously the choice fell on Tonino Molinari, historic president of the Wolves at the time of Serie B, as well as president at the time of the construction of the stadium, while the popular sector maintains the name of the captain of that team, the never forgotten Michele Scorrano, whose name is loudly chanted by the fans at every home match. We are now just waiting for the official ratification of the Municipality of Campobasso expected at the end of April, with the change of name that will accompany the naming sponsor already present this season outside the main grandstand.

Coming to the actual support, we must start from yesterday, when the organized groups attended the finishing of the Campobasso, carried out early in the morning inside the stadium, to underline their maximum support and also to silence some of the chatter too much which, via damned social media, insinuated some cracks in the environment.

Arriving in the stadium area this Sunday, however, the topic that monopolizes every discussion is that of the next away match to San Benedetto del Tronto: on Thursday, the first day of presale, all 1,100 available tickets were sold, another 150 tickets have been added to the escort but exclusively for residents of the Molise region, while the various Campobassani non-residents will have to sit in the side grandstand of the “Riviera delle Palme”, next to the guest corner.

The beautiful sunny day greatly inventive the attendance: the official figure for this challenge at the beginning of April is 4,063, with an excellent view both for the curve and for the grandstand.

The performance of the rossoblu ultras was very good, which goes hand in hand with the performance of their team on the pitch; various dry chants and clapping are followed by even the most “shy” ones; the waving of the NFO flags was excellent Bad Brainz and the lineup of choirs is also appreciable, ranging from the most “retro” to the most current ones, with the famous “Campobasso Sperato” which today is sung in the second half.

Shortly before the start of the second half, the banner of the initiative which we have already spoken about at length is displayed, while even more eloquent is the applause of thanks that comes from the parents of these children, hosted in the stands, even if in truth it is for them that the greatest applause must be given for what they dedicate every day to their children and indirectly to civil society as a whole.

Also in the second half it is the turn of the scarf, which even today (thanks to the field workers of the Campobassana club) I am lucky enough to immortalize from the upper ring of the Curva Sud, a position which also gives me a nice overview of the entire audience present today.

The peak of the chants arrives after the third goal and continues until the final whistle, when the classic greeting between team and fans is repeated, today more “charged” than previous outings, given the return to victory of the Molise wolves and the consolidation of the primacy in the standings with four days left to go.

Deserted guest sector, I remind you that United Riccione, although playing in Serie D, is not the direct emanation of the historic association of the Romagna town, which is instead Riccione 1926, currently in command of Group H of the First Category, therefore with a great chance of moving up in the Romagna Promotion championship.
