Bundesliga 30th matchday: Eintracht Frankfurt turns the game against Augsburg

Eintracht Frankfurt turned a deficit against FC Augsburg into a 2-1 win (0-1) and was able to stay in the Europa League place for the time being. Augsburg, on the other hand, missed the chance to overtake Frankfurt in a direct duel.

Augsburg had already taken the lead with their first chance: Ruben Vargas (13th) shot the ball powerfully into the goal from a tight angle after a quick move. As a result, Frankfurt didn’t get into the game well and hardly had any chances. Augsburg, on the other hand, defended well and made things difficult for Eintracht.

As at the end of the first half, Frankfurt got better into the game after the break and built up pressure. In the 55th minute, Farès Chaïbi rewarded his team with the equalizer. The game now became more open – and Frankfurt got more space. A few minutes later, Eintracht had turned the result around, Hugo Ekitike (61′) scored to make it 2-1. As a result, the game slowed down, Augsburg lost power and Frankfurt took control.

That changed again with numerous substitutions in the final phase. Augsburg tried everything on the offensive again – and thus enabled Frankfurt to make the decisive counterattack. Omar Marmoush (90th + 5) made the decision.
