Budokai Judokas Return with Medals from French Championship

The independent Budokai from Aveyron returned from the French championship of the Sports and Gymnastics Federation of Work (FSGT) with medals and great fights led by its members. The competition took place in Auby in the North, near Lille, on the Easter weekend.

“Participation in the championship allowed five of the seven qualified judokas from our club to fight on the northern tatamis against the elite of FSGT judo,” says Budokai coach David Soulier. Indeed, two fighters were unable to participate due to injuries or for professional reasons.

On Sunday, it was Robin Rodriguez, in the chick category, who opened the ball. “Robin found himself in a very large weight category with twenty participants. The judokas were divided into four groups of five fighters,” explains David Soulier. “After four fights, only the first two of the groups continued the competition. Despite all his desire, his determination and some very good fights, Robin did not come out of his qualifying group.”

The four Budokai veterans fought on Monday. “Despite complicated weigh-ins for some, with changes in weight category, they carried very high the colors of the club, of the communes of Causse-et-Diége, commune of the club, of Naussac, commune of the club dojo, and at beyond Grand-Figeac and Aveyron.” Jérôme Mohr, who opened the competition in the M3 + 100 kg category, finished third on the podium.

Laurent Sala wins a third French champion title

Mika de Polli reaches the final of the M5 – 100 kg. “Unfortunately, after a minute of fighting, Mika, who for professional reasons trains at the Grand-Rouen Judo club throughout the season, injured his thigh quite seriously. He was forced to give up.” He still finished vice-champion of France in the FSGT.

The technical director of Budokai, Laurent Sala, wins the title of French champion of the FSGT M7 – 100 kg for the third time. Laurent trains at the Rians Judo club in Var.

David Soulier was the last to step onto the tatamis in the North for the M4 – 100 kg category and finished third in this category. “The Budokai office would like to congratulate all the judokas on their results.”
