As part of the national Olympic Games week organized at the Bramo-Set nursery school, two teachers from the judo club volunteered for an introduction to judo. The students discovered the basics of this sport and its values: mutual aid, respect, friendship. They even learned their first words of Japanese!
“In this Olympic year, and in order to promote sports practice, we are offering all Villeneuve schools the opportunity to volunteer with qualified judo teachers. We are providing a tatami surface to practice in complete safety as well as kimonos and belts to lend to children”, explains the club’s teacher, Jérémy Buisson. The intervention by qualified teachers includes an introduction to the basics of judo, as well as Japanese culture and an introduction to Japanese vocabulary, without forgetting a focus on the values conveyed by this combat sport. The icing on the cake: medals were awarded to all the participating children.
