Bologna surprises AS Rome in the race for the C1

AS Rome is trembling for its qualification for the Champions League after its home defeat against Bologna on Monday evening for the 33rd day of the championship.

AS Roma was dominated in front of its home crowd by Bologna 3 to 1 and may have compromised its chances of qualifying for the next Champions League, Monday during the 33rd day of the Italian Championship.

Facing a direct rival for the C1, Roma took on water: they were trailing 2-0 before the break and were crucified shortly after reducing the score by Alexis Saelemaekers, who deceived Mile Svilar with a superb lob (65th).

This defeat, only the second in the league since the appointment in mid-January of Daniele De Rossi to replace Jose Mourinho, could cost him dearly: he still occupies 5th place, synonymous since last week with qualification for the Champions League, but is only one point ahead of Atalanta (6th).

The two teams, qualified for the semi-finals of the Europa League, both have a match in hand to play, but Roma’s scheduled for Thursday will only last 18 minutes, since it is the match abandoned on April 14 in Udine after Evan Ndicka’s illness when the score was 1-1.

For its part, Bologna, surprise team of the season, has taken a big step towards the C1: it is 4th with seven points ahead of its opponent of the day.
