Bologna continues and threatens Juventus

Winner of Salernitana 3-0 on Monday for the 30th day of the Italian championship, Bologna is two points behind 3rd place.

Bologna, winner of Salernitana 3-0 on Monday, returned to two points from 3rd place in the Italian Championship occupied by Juventus Turin, in complete disarray.

Bologna signed their eighth victory in their last nine matches thanks to goals from Riccardo Orsolini (14), Alexis Saelemaekers (44) and Charis Lykogiannis (90+2).

The team coached by Thiago Motta has pocketed 24 points out of 27 possible since the start of February. Its only misstep during this period was conceded against the leader, Inter Milan, a difficult winner 1-0 on the 28th day.

With 57 points, Bologna consolidated its 4th place, qualifying for the next Champions League, and returns on the heels of Juve, beaten by Lazio (1-0) on Saturday and limited to seven points in its last nine matches.

Salernitana is heading towards the 2nd division: the Salerno club, led on Monday for the first time by Stefano Colantuono, its fourth coach of the season, is eleven points behind the first non-relegation place, Empoli (17th).

Another candidate for the C1, AS Rome had to be satisfied with the point of a draw (0-0) in Lecce.

It remains 5th (52 pts), with five points less than Bologna (4th) and only has a two-length advantage over Atalanta (6th) who have played one match less.

The 30th day will close in the evening (8:45 p.m.) with the match at San Siro between the leader, Inter, and Empoli.
