Blue Jays Suffer Tough Loss to Rockies in Series Opener

The Blue Jays were never in contention on Friday night as they suffered a tough 12-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies in Toronto in the first game of a three-game series.

This is a second loss in a row and a fourth in six games for the Toronto team, which is coughing a little at the start of the season. It’s even worse for the Rockies, who only have four victories on the clock in 2024.

It was the Colorado attack that did most of the work in this victory with 20 hits, taking advantage of long balls from Nolan Jones and Ezequiel Tovar.

The Rockies’ starting pitcher, Ryan Feltner (1-1), also did well in the victory by giving up only two runs in five innings of work, managing four strikeouts in the process.

His opposite number with the Jays, Kevin Gausman (0-2), had a difficult second start in 2024, allowing no less than ten hits and six runs in just three and two-thirds innings of work.

The second meeting in the series will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m. and will also be presented on TVA Sports.
