Tamira Paszek defeated Elena Milovanovic in the opening singles 6:4 6:3. “I was really happy with the performance, implemented the match plan well and played solidly,” summed up the Vorarlberg native. As a result, Sinja Kraus retained the upper hand against Mia Ristic with a similarly confident score of 6:2 6:4. “I am very happy with my performance. Although I started late in both sets, I didn’t let myself get carried away and had the ball well on my racket. I’m happy that we won and are playing for the group win,” said Kraus.

At the end, the Austrians, who again competed without the injured Julia Grabher and who had also used the free Thursday for a trip to Lisbon, won the doubles with Melanie Klaffner/Tamara Kostic. The duo beat Milovanovic/Ristic 6:3 4:6 10/8.

The Dutch defeated Serbia 2-1 on Thursday. Suzan Lamens (WTA 164th), Anouk Koevermans (WTA 385th), Eva Vedder (WTA 413th) and Demi Schuurs (WTA double 10th) are in the squad. “It won’t be easy, but we are ready and motivated to be the first to leave the field,” said Kraus. And Paszek added: “We can go into the last game with a lot of positive energy and good self-confidence.”
