Austria’s women are fighting for first place in the Europe-Africa Zone I tournament in the Billie Jean King Cup in Oeiras. In their first game of the second group phase, the ÖTV selection beat Serbia 3-0 on Friday and is now fighting for tournament victory against the Netherlands on Saturday. Team captain Marion Maruska’s team had already secured promotion to the play-offs in the fall on Tuesday.

Tamira Paszek defeated Elena Milovanovic in the opening singles 6:4 6:3. “I was really happy with the performance, implemented the match plan well and played solidly,” summed up the Vorarlberg native.
