Badminton Asia Championships 2024 schedule, 4 Indonesian representatives in action in the top 8

KOMPAS.com – The 2024 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) schedule enters the quarter-finals which will be held at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, China, Friday (12/4/2024) at 12.00 WIB.

Indonesia has four representatives remaining in BAC 2024, namely Antony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

The four Red and White representatives are scheduled to compete sequentially on field one of the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, starting with Gregoria’s struggle.

Gregoria will face host representative Chen Yu Fei. This is the 12th meeting for the two players with a record of 8-3 in favor of Chen Yu Fei.

The last meeting occurred in the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open 2024 which Chen Yu Fei won in two straight games with a score of 21-13, 21-17.

Gregoria realized that Chen Yu Fei would appear fiery in front of the public herself. However, the player known as Jorji did not want to be defeated by the situation.

He was determined to show a better performance and play calmly to try to win.

“He certainly has his own motivation because he plays in front of the public himself. I just want to try to play better than yesterday. I have to appear calmer and be able to read the situation,” said Gregoria.

After Gregoria, BAC 2024 contains a match between Jonatan Christie and Malaysia’s best men’s singles player, Lee Zii Jia.

Jonatan is in a positive trend after winning the All England 2024. However, Jonatan also needs to be careful considering that he has never defeated Lee Zii Jia in the last 5 matches.

Jonathan’s last victory over Lee Zii Jia occurred in the last 16 of the 2019 Singapore Open.

After that, Jonathan always lost to Lee Zii Jia, including in the last meeting in the last 16 of the India Open 2024.

Meanwhile, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto will face China’s number one men’s doubles, Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.

Fajar admitted that he was really looking forward to the match against Liang/Wang, who in the last two matches beat him and Rian.

“Tomorrow (today) against Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang, that’s a match I’m really looking forward to,” said Fajar in a PBSI statement.
