Attendance at Top 14 and Pro D2 stadiums on the rise

There are many supporters in the stadiums. In a press release, the National Rugby League (LNR) announces that attendance in Top 14 and Pro D2 stadiums is increasing compared to the 2022-2023 season. The First Division has attracted more than 2,200,000 spectators since the start of the 2023-2024 financial year. An improvement of 3.5% at this stage of the season after 21 days. A new record could be established in the Top 14, since the establishment of a 14-team league in 2005, with the aim of exceeding last season’s figure of 2.7 million.

The Chaban-Delmas stadium of the Union Bordeaux Bègles is the one which attracts the most curious people with more than 27,000 spectators per match ahead of Ernest-Wallon (Toulouse Stadium) and its 19,800 people on average. In the fight for the top 6, Stade Rochelais has had a 100% occupancy rate since the start of the season.

An increase of 15% in Pro D2

Within the lower level, the fervor is even more visible, like AS Béziers, which has seen an increase of 29% compared to last year. An enthusiasm boosted by the performances of the Héraultais on the Pro D2 pitches with a third place in their sights with three days remaining. The best attendance goes to RC Vannes and the more than 10,500 people who flock to the La Rabine stadium for each poster to support the Championship leaders.

An upward trend which is confirmed in the 16 venues since more than 1 million spectators attended the matches, an increase of 15% compared to last season. The suspense that awaits supporters both in the fight for the accession play-offs or maintenance should fill the stadiums until the 30th and final day, May 17.
