Athletic asks its fans not to blow the Spanish anthem in the Cup final

He Athletic Club has asked its fans present in Seville “to refrain from carrying out acts or demonstrations that could be considered a lack of respect, including the moment of the previous anthem“.

Through a statement, titled “for a final with the utmost respect“, Athletic considers that “respect is one of the fundamental principles” of the entity, “an institution that is proud to have a unique identity in football.”

“So we not only trust – the statement continues – but We are sure of the perfect coexistence and good spirit among our fanswith the followers of RCD Mallorca“, with the city of Seville that welcomes us and, within La Cartuja, with our rivals, with the referee team and with all the people present.”

In “consistency with its demand for respect, sportsmanship and diversity as the entity’s own values”, Athletic “requests its fans to cup final that is being played this Saturday, refrain from carrying out acts or demonstrations that could be considered a lack of respect, including when the previous anthem is played.

For the entity chaired by Jon Uriarte, “respect for any symbol or anthem in sports competitions, represents a sample of education, civility and tolerance that transcends other issues or demands.” And, in that sense, he sees “the soccer World Cups, rugby or the Olympics” as “the best examples.”

“The great cup event between Athletic Club and RCD Mallorca is an opportunity for coexistence between two great fans on and off the field.
