Romelu Lukaku had headed the equalizer past goalkeeper Okoye ten minutes earlier. The Romans seemed to be on their way to an eighth unbeaten match in a row. However, relegation candidate Udinese got off to the best start. The home team looked for and found Lorenzo Lucca, a tall striker of two meters. The young Italian first shouted for a penalty and then wrenched away an excellent header opportunity.

AS Roma got better and better into the match and threatened through Aouar and Baldanzi. Still, the home team took the lead after Huijssen’s miss. Roberto Pereya was allowed to aim alone and remained icy calm. With a boost he outwitted a hopeless Svilar.

Lukaku was barely involved in the game and was on an island, managing only 24 touches in the first half. Just before half time he headed his only chance wide of Okoye’s goal. His patience was rewarded in the second half. Bryan Cristante brought the ball in front of goal and our compatriot scored the equalizer.

If they win, Roma would come within one point of Bologna, fourth in Serie A. According to the regulations, an abandoned match must be completed within 24 hours, but in this case it is still unclear whether that is actually an option.
