Artistic gymnastics, Italy has improved by 3 points in one year! The growth of the Musketeers and a world podium score

Italy won the bronze medal in the team competition at the European Championships of men’s artistic gymnastics. Yumin Abbadini, Lorenzo Minh Casali, Matteo Levantesi, Mario Macchiati and Marco Lodadio managed to climb onto the third step of the podium with the score of 252.560, behind Ukraine (255,762) and Great Britain (255,429). This is a very important result for our national team, which for the third consecutive year it is confirmed among the greats of the Old Continent: silver in Monaco in 2022, gold last year in Antalya, bronze on Sunday afternoon in Rimini.

Let’s focus on the score: Italy has improved by three points compared to the mark of twelve months ago. The Musketeers needed 249,526 points to triumph in Turkey ahead of the hosts (248,262) and Great Britain (246,961). This is therefore a notable technical improvement for the Azzurri, who have progressed significantly in terms of difficulties and executions. The average increase per financial year is 0.166.

Of course, the rest of the teams also performed better and the overall level rose, but Italy was able to hold its own. With 252,560 points you would have climbed to the third step of the podium at the 2023 World Championships, given that the bronze went to the neck of the USA (252.428) in the race won by Japan with 255.594 ahead of China (253.794). The two Asians and the Americans have yet to express themselves in this competitive year and remain the favorites for the podium at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but Italy’s response is of great impact and gives hope in view of the most important event of the last three-year period.
