Argentine Goalkeeper Secures Spot in Paris 2024 Olympics with Archery Qualification

The Argentine delegation added a new qualifier to Paris 2024 thanks to Damián Jajarabilla, who will be the third goalkeeper in the history of our country to participate in the Olympic Games. The man from Mar del Plata won the place in the individual recurve, a test in which he was third, after Colombia freed up a place due to its team classification in the Continental Qualifying Tournament that takes place in Medellín, Colombia.

Jajarabilla benefited from the title obtained by the Colombian recurve team, which freed up the place obtained by Santiago Arcila in the individual event. In this way he will be the first Argentine to compete in archery since Ángel Bello and Claudio Pafundi did so in Seoul 1988.

The Argentine had been one arrow away from qualifying after losing in the semifinals to Nicholas D’Amour of the Virgin Islands 10-9 in shoot-outs after tying 5-5. Then, he won the bronze medal by beating the Salvadoran Oscar Ticas 6-0, a result that ended up giving him classification after the release of a quota.
