Van der Poel finished a dry Helle classic with an average of 47.80 kilometers per hour, good for the fastest edition ever. The previous record dated from… 2023 (46.85 km/h). The Dutchman had a lead of no less than three minutes over his teammate Jasper Philipsen, who finished second for the second time in a row, this time ahead of Mads Pedersen. Gianni Vermeersch completed Alpecin-Deceuninck’s party with sixth place.
In addition to Wout van Aert, Visma-Lease a Bike also missed Dylan van Baarle, who eventually dropped out. Ultimately, Tim van Dijke seemed to secure an unexpected top ten place, but the Dutchman accelerated off-piste in the Vélodrôme and was dropped from eighth to sixteenth place. Brother Mick van Dijke finished 19th, Christophe Laporte 25th. the European champion finished just behind Oliver Naesen.

Things were worse for Soudal Quick-Step. Only three riders reached the finish, with Yves Lampaert in 36th, 7’16” behind the winner. Kasper Asgreen went on the attack and finished 88th. Only one team finished completely: Groupama-FDJ, with a strong Stefan Küng (5th) and Laurence Pithie (7th). All riders from Alpecin-Deceuninck also entered, but Oscar Riesebeek was one of fourteen riders outside the time limit.
