Analysis of Novak Djokovic’s Performance in Monte-Carlo: Is Fatigue a Factor?

Apart from the first match against Roman Safiullin, Novak Djokovic did not really shine in Monte‐Carlo where he nevertheless returned to the last four for the first time since his second title on the Rock in 2015.

During the broadcast “Without Net” on WinamaxJulien Varlet tried to explain the current form of the world number 1, beaten in the semi-finals by Casper Ruud.

“Maybe he’s burnt out, he’s been through monstrous physical sessions. Djokovic is perhaps playing with the fatigue of preparation on earth. It could happen and if it finds Roland it’s going to be a fighter plane and it’s going to crush everyone! It’s almost unusual that he’s burnt out because he hasn’t played before. So if he’s burnt out, for me, it’s because he’s done a lot of preparation. He played in Monte‐Carlo because it’s his home, he lives here. It’s still a Masters 1000, he’s training”declared the former 135th in the world.
