Alek Manoah’s Return to the Mound: A Comeback Story at the AAA Level

Alek Manoah’s return from injury will continue at the AAA level on Saturday, when he will be the starting pitcher for the Buffalo Bisons, an affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen will be behind the plate for the Bisons, while relievers Erik Swanson and Jordan Romero will also pitch during the game.

All four players started the season sidelined due to injuries.

Manoah’s name was placed on the injured list during camp due to shoulder inflammation.

Jansen suffered a small fracture to a bone in his right wrist when he was shot on March 13.

Romano was placed on injured reserve on March 28 with right elbow inflammation.

Swanson was sidelined with stiffness in his right forearm.

Manoah will start the first game of a doubleheader between the Bisons and the Rochester Red Wings, an affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Manoah will have a 70-shot limit. He added that he hoped to see him pitch for five innings. Swanson and Romano would follow to complete the seven-inning game.

Jansen will be the receiver in two Bisons games over the weekend.

Manoah struggled during a fitness start at A level on Sunday with the Dunedin club. He walked the first four batters he faced and ultimately gave up seven runs in one and two-thirds innings of work.

Despite these numbers, Manoah was happy with his outing as he did not feel any pain in his shoulder.
